Quilt to be Raffled

On display will be this year’s Opportunity Quilt, “Queen and her Court.” Pieces & Patches guild members create an Opportunity quilt each year to be raffled off.  The proceeds from the raffle support the scholarship fund, which awards a scholarship to a high school senior from Anderson County.

The 2016 quilt top was made by Sharon Rich; the applique flowers and top sewn together by Connie Hatch, Carolyn Crupper, Judy Stukey, and Terrie Gifford. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  They can be purchased from any guild member or at the quilt show during Square Fair.  The drawing will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th.  The winner need not be present to win.

Be sure to visit the Pieces & Patches Quilt Guild Quilt Show at the Garnett Senior Senior, just walking distance from the courthouse lawn at 128 W. 5th Avenue. Free admission.

Where it's cool to be square.
For 44 years Square Fair has been a mainstay tradition in Garnett.  Held annually on the Saturday before Mother's Day, Square Fair is the "cool" place to bring mom and the entire family.

On May 7th, enjoy a variety of crafters, business booths, food vendors and a little mix of farmer's market as the festival takes over downtown Garnett.  Presented by Garnett Business and Professional Women, Square Fair was founded 44 years ago by the local chapter of American Association of University Women (AAUW).  Square Fair has graced the grounds of the Anderson County Courthouse in the center of Garnett as one of the most famous events in the area and one of the largest festivals held in Garnett.

In conjunction with Square Fair, the Pieces and Patch Quilt Guild will have a special quilt exhibit at the Garnett Senior Center.

Partake of tours of the Walker Art Gallery, Harris House, Anderson County Historical Museum and Santa Fe Depot.
